More And More People Are Eating High-Protein Snacks

People all over the world like to treat themselves sometimes, and they often turn to snacks. Many people snack just to get rid of their hunger, but more and more people are looking for more than just a quick bite. They are now actively looking for snacking products that can be useful and healthy. Because of this, more and more people are turning to snacks with a lot of protein. So, what are people really looking for in their snacks?

Snacking Habits

In 2021, people have been eating more and more snacks throughout the day. Consumer insights from FMCG Gurus show that only 3% of people say they do not snack at the moment. This shows that people are snacking more often. Six out of ten people snack in the middle of the afternoon, and four out of ten eat snacks instead of lunch. As more people eat snacks instead of meals, they will look for products that are not only tasty but also good for them.

High Protein Snacks

Protein has a strong reputation for being good for your health, and many people now look for high-protein foods to add to their diets. This is because people are trying to live healthier lives to avoid health problems in the future and to make themselves less likely to get sick.

Research from FMCG Gurus shows that 37% of consumers around the world say they usually snack on protein bars. This is 5% more than in 2020. 31% of people around the world also say they snack on protein drinks that are ready to drink. When asked why they buy these products, 64% of consumers said it’s because they are healthy and have a lot of good ingredients. 51% of people also say that they choose to snack on these things because they are healthy treats. This shows that people still like to treat themselves sometimes when they want to relax and unwind. However, they are looking for products that not only taste good but are also easy to eat and healthy.

Protein Claims

Not only are claims of high protein important for protein bars and drinks, but they can also help traditional snack foods become more expensive. FMCG Gurus’ research shows that 55% of global consumers say they would pay more for high protein claims on traditional snack foods. People would not only pay more for products that say they have a lot of protein, but they also look at protein as a key claim when deciding which snack to buy.

This desire comes from the fact that people want less bad ingredients like sugar and more functional ingredients that are good for their health. People are now more worried than ever about their health and well-being because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This, in turn, has caused some people to rethink what they eat. This is a huge chance for snack companies to market healthier options to customers.
